Angelus Instrument de Vitesse - 60 Seconds Flat

Instrument de Vitesse, a new opus in the La Fabrique collection, revives the golden age of timed races. This single push-piece chronograph seems to have been plucked from the dashboard of a vintage GT car. It is equipped with a single timing hand – the centre seconds hand – and can time a maximum of one minute. With its sleek and refined retro sports look, Instrument de Vitesse is intended for enthusiasts of watchmaking history and culture. Housed in a 39-mm steel case, its 4.20 mm manually wound Manufacture calibre ensures that the finished timepiece is less than 10 mm thick. Instrument de Vitesse is available with an ivory-white or ebony-black dial in two limited series of 25 timepieces each.

Appearances can sometimes be deceptive. At first glance, Instrument de Vitesse does not appear to be a classic chronograph. With its three central hands, it looks like a watch... with three hands, but the tachymeter scale running around the outer edge of the dial reveals its chronometric function. For this is a chronograph presented in its purest expression, dedicated to timing short bursts – a measuring instrument designed to take average speed readings over a maximum of 60 seconds. This, in turn, casts new light on the crown, which also acts as the chronograph’s single push-piece to set the slender centre seconds hand in motion.

Arnold & Son has unveiled its new "Perpetual Moon 41.5 Steel Colours of the Moon" collection, a series of highly exclusive, limited-edition timepieces inspired by the changing celestial hues of Earth's natural satellite. Detailed in the official release document, "ENG_A&S PM 41.5 Steel Colours of the Moon.doc", the collection features three distinct versions—the Blue Moon, Golden Moon, and Red Moon—each celebrating a unique atmospheric or seasonal phenomenon that alters the Moon's appearance and has fascinated civilisations throughout history.

Reinterpreting the iconic Perpetual Moon collection, these new models introduce a 41.5 mm stainless-steel case that balances horological exclusivity with everyday versatility. In a watchmaking first, Arnold & Son has applied a pioneering Physical Vapour Deposition (PVD) treatment directly onto precious mother-of-pearl. This innovative process creates deep, shifting reflections across the dials and moon-phase skies, showcasing the natural organic layers of the material with patterns that recall the flowing grain of Damascus steel.

The astronomical precision of the moon phase is enhanced by Super-LumiNova hidden beneath the colored mother-of-pearl moon disc, accompanied by hand-painted luminescent constellations of Cassiopeia and Ursa Major—a poetic tribute to historical mariners who relied on them for navigation. Bringing this celestial mechanics to life is the in-house A&S1512 manual-winding calibre. This movement provides a generous 90-hour power reserve and displays meticulous luxury finishes, including radiating Côtes de Genève and a secondary moon-phase indicator, all visible through the sapphire crystal case back.

Each of the three references is paired with a matching hand-stitched alligator leather strap and secured with a stainless-steel pin buckle. To maintain their extreme exclusivity, production is strictly limited to just 18 pieces per version.

The brand selected only genuine ruby exhibiting depth of colour, fine inclusions, and naturally occurring variations—features that are not flaws but signatures of authenticity, shaped by geological processes over millions of years. At the core of the watch lies the hand-finished Calibre ARF21, a manufacture movement entirely designed and produced in-house. Its defining feature is the brand’s patented Resonance Clutch Spring, which connects two independent regulating systems, enabling the balance wheels to oscillate in harmonic resonance. This phenomenon enhances chronometric stability and is visually showcased by a pusher at 2 o’clock that resets both seconds hands simultaneously—a dramatic demonstration of mechanical synchronicity in action. Operating at 3.5 Hz (25,200 vph) and offering a 48-hour power reserve, the movement transforms a centuries-old scientific principle into contemporary watchmaking mastery.

Craftsmanship remains central to ARMIN STROM’s ethos. The bridges feature hand-polished bevels, black-polished screws, perlage, and circular graining, with Geneva stripes enriching the reverse side. As with every ARMIN STROM timepiece, each watch is assembled twice, ensuring absolute performance and finishing quality. Introduction of assertive new black dials for the C by Romain Gauthier Titanium Edition Bracelet

Released initially with a grey dial and then with a Lever de Soleil color dial, the C by Romain Gauthier Titanium Edition Bracelet is now featured with two new dials: a three-dimensional straight grained structured dial in Grade 5 black titanium with white details and a black sapphire openwork dial with blue and white accents.

The three-dimensional straight grained black titanium dial provides an even more assertive character with its textured surfaces. The sharp contrast between the white details and the dark background enhances the time indications. This dial embodies a distinctly modern design while maintaining excellent readability, even in low-light conditions, thanks to the use of Super- LumiNova on the indexes, numerals, and hands.

As for the sapphire openwork dial, it reveals the intricate components of the movement, showcasing the brand's sophisticated watchmaking engineering and artisanal craftsmanship. This openwork design creates a captivating interplay between transparency and structure, transforming the watch into a true technical and aesthetic masterpiece.
