The narrative behind these watches stretches back millions of years before the creation of the first mechanical movement. The Small Second Serpentine features a striking green stone sourced from the region surrounding Zermatt and the Matterhorn, representing an ancient ocean floor pushed upward during continental collisions to form the Alps. Meanwhile, the Small Second Jasper utilizes the painted stone of the Earth from Germany, honoring the foundational roots of founder Gerd Rüdiger Lang and connecting with the historic stone-cutting traditions of Idar-Oberstein.

Because these creations rely on genuine natural minerals, every single dial is entirely unique. The Small Second Jasper captivates the eye with a landscape of warm beige, brown, and ivory tones housed in a refined stainless steel case, while the Small Second Serpentine presents a vivid green dial paired with a sophisticated two-tone stainless steel and 18-karat red gold case. At the heart of these models lies the Chronoswiss Manufacture Caliber C.6000, an automatic movement that delivers an approximate 55-hour power reserve. The movement features a skeletonized tungsten rotor and Geneva-striped bridges, which can be admired through the sapphire crystal case back. Housed within a 40-millimeter case featuring the signature fluted bezel and onion crown, the design maintains visual balance by placing the hand-guilloched small seconds subdial at the 9 o'clock position.

Design & Aesthetics

The watch features a 41 mm stainless steel case and an off-center transparent sapphire crystal dial with a subdial. The main plate, crafted by Kari Voutilainen, showcases a stunning glacial blue guilloché pattern. The color palette of silvery greys and soft blues is inspired by the serene beauty of Swiss glacial lakes. The watch is completed with a blue nubuck leather strap with ice blue stitching.

Movement & Mechanics

Powered by the proprietary Caliber ASB19, the Gravity Equal Force Ultimate Sapphire Blue is the world’s first automatic movement with a patented stop-work declutch mechanism and Geneva cross. This ensures consistent torque and precision across a 72-hour power reserve. The movement is visible through both the front and back sapphire crystals, and features hand-finished components with perlage, Geneva stripes, and circular graining.

Craftsmanship

Each watch is assembled twice to ensure reliability and refinement. Every component is hand-finished in Biel/Bienne, emphasizing traditional techniques and an open-worked design.

The Maison gérald genta expands the Geneva collection with the Geneva Time Only, a new 38 mm creation in warm rose gold 4N and cool white gold, translating the line’s sculptural language and “l’esprit de Genève” into an essential, everyday expression.

“I wanted to capture the intuitive, instinctive genius and artistry of Mr. Genta,” says Matthieu Hegi, Artistic Director at La Fabrique du Temps Louis Vuitton, who leads the Geneva collection’s creative direction.

The updated cushion case—neither round nor square—features softened contours, a refined gadroon and a new single, broader lug on each side, striking a rare balance of daring and discretion. Light plays across polished and satin surfaces, while the collection’s signature two‑segment minute track forms a subtle optical illusion as the outer track follows the cushion silhouette and the inner ring remains perfectly circular. The grained brass dial carries a gentle fumé gradient—lighter at the center, darker at the edge—for tonal depth.

At just 8.15 mm thick, the 38 mm case slips neatly under a cuff; both models are fitted with rounded, mirror‑polished solid‑gold hands and applied indexes and tone‑on‑tone calfskin straps. Under the dial, the GG‑005P automatic calibre—Zenith Elite–based with redesigned bridges and a reworked oscillating mass—beats at 4 Hz with a 50‑hour power reserve (158 components, 27 jewels), visible through the sapphire caseback. Water‑resistance is 30 m.

Housed in a distinctive 41mm two-tone case crafted from stainless steel and 18ct red gold, the timepiece masterfully blends the rugged spirit of adventure with refined luxury. The warm glow of precious metal flows seamlessly into the robust steel construction, mirroring the final golden rays dancing across endless dunes. This ultimate celebration of contrasts is beautifully completed by a sand-colored nubuck leather strap that evokes the warm tones of sunlit, weathered terrain.

At the heart of the watch beats the Chronoswiss Manufacture Caliber C.741S, a fully skeletonized automatic chronograph movement that transforms every measurement of time into a visual spectacle. Designed for legibility and visual complexity, the central chronograph seconds hand sweeps the openworked dial in harmony with a 30-minute counter at 12 o'clock and a 12-hour counter at 6 o'clock. A running small seconds display at 9 o'clock provides a constant indication of the movement's heartbeat, while a highly unique, analogue pointer date display at 3 o'clock enhances its everyday practicality.

The skeletonized, CVD-coated brown dial draws inspiration from the rich palette of the desert, where warm tones create a composition that is both timeless and adventurous. By exposing the intricate mechanics beneath the surface, every skeletonized bridge, wheel, and component directly contributes to a captivating, mechanical canvas. The hands are crafted in the elegant Breguet Losange shape and rhodium-plated to ensure striking contrast against the dark, galvanic black perlage of the base plate.

Crafted in solid 23 pieces, the 41mm case features an 18ct red gold bezel with partial knurling, a screw-down case back with a red gold coin-edge ring, and Chronoswiss’s iconic onion crown. The total weight of gold used in this exceptional construction is 21.4 grams. Offering a water resistance of 3 bar (30 meters), the watch is equipped with screw-in lugs utilizing the patented Autobloc system. For over three decades, the Opus collection has embodied the bold spirit of Chronoswiss; the Opus Dakar Sundown brilliantly reimagines this legacy, shaped by craftsmanship and illuminated by one of nature's most spectacular moments.
